ATHAR (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use the app, how it is used, and your choices.

This policy applies to the ATHAR mobile application and its related in-app features, including prayer times, notifications, Quran features, and widgets.
2. Data We Process
2.1 No Account Registration
ATHAR does not require user account registration. You are not required to create a profile or submit personal identity information to use core features.
2.2 Location Data (With Permission)
If you enable location-based prayer times, the app may access precise or approximate location depending on your operating system permissions. Coordinates are used to calculate prayer times and related scheduling.
Important: To provide prayer times, location coordinates and related time parameters may be sent to external prayer-time service providers.
2.3 Locally Stored Data
- Prayer-time cache and calculation context
- Notification preferences (enabled prayers, lead time)
- Display preferences (theme, language, time format)
- Selected city/governorate and timezone
- Quran cache and downloaded audio files
- Widget synchronization data via App Group storage (iOS)
2.4 Technical Data
When connecting to APIs, service providers may receive technical request data such as IP address, device/network metadata, and request headers as part of normal internet communication.
3. Permissions Used
- Location permission – for prayer time calculation
- Notification permission – for prayer alerts and test notifications
No permission is requested unless required for feature functionality.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal data
- We do not use in-app advertising SDKs
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (currently)
- We do not collect payment card information
5. Third-Party Services
ATHAR integrates with the following service providers:
- Al-Kafeel Prayer API
- AlAdhan Islamic API
- AlQuran Cloud API
- Islamic Network CDN
- Quran.Foundation endpoints (where enabled)
These providers may process limited technical data necessary to deliver functionality. We do not sell user data.
6. Data Storage and Retention
- Most operational data is stored locally on your device
- No central user profile database is maintained for core app usage
- Cached or downloaded content remains until you clear app data or uninstall
- Secure storage items remain on-device unless removed
7. Children’s Privacy
ATHAR is not specifically directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through account systems, as no account registration is required.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical safeguards such as secure communication channels where applicable. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Choices
- You may revoke Location or Notification permissions via device settings
- You may disable location-based features at any time
- You may clear local app data or uninstall the app
